The act of chewing also provides a distraction from smoking, giving your mouth something to do other than cigarettes.

Directions

Choose the program that suits your quitting plan:

Program A – Complete Stop:

Chew one gum whenever you feel the urge to smoke. Do not exceed 10 pieces per day.

After about 3 months, gradually reduce your daily gum intake.

Once you reach 1–2 pieces per day, you can stop using the gum, usually within 6 months.

Program B – Gradual Reduction:

Chew one gum slowly instead of smoking a cigarette when cravings arise.

Gradually increase gum use while reducing the number of cigarettes smoked. Do not exceed 10 gums per day.

When you feel ready to quit completely, switch to Program A.

If smoking is not reduced after 6 weeks, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Chewing Technique – Chew & Park:

Chew one piece of gum slowly until the taste becomes strong.

“Park” the gum between your gum and cheek to absorb nicotine.

Repeat for up to 30 minutes.

Active: Nicotine 4mg per gum

Contains saccharin and saccharin sodium

Sorbitol, xylitol, and mannitol – total 0.4g/gum or 4g/10 gums (may have a laxative effect)

Sodium 11.5mg/gum (equiv. to 115mg/10 gums) – consider if on a low-sodium diet
